Coincidentally, Aidan Turner has previously filmed at Chavenage House (The Priory in Rivals)
Plot
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as they have a long-standing rivalry that comes to a head. The same filming location was also used to play Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark.
Within 5 minutes of the first episode I was hooked
When I first saw Rivals coming out I gave a little squeal of excitement. I was also nervous as I was a fan of the books.
The clothes, the makeup, the music ~ what a soundtrack
Each episode is fast paced, there are no times where you get bored or feel like it’s dragged on, as so many of these miniseries tend to. The characters are all so unique and so well acted, the acting and casting are fabulous.
This series is fun, bold, colourful and nostalgic
I understand the disappointment at Rupert’s ‘look’ being changed but it’s really no big deal, nor does it have any lasting impact in my opinion. It doesn’t disappoint at all, and can we all take a moment to appreciate David Tennent, who still plays the ‘bad guy’ role perfectly.
