Coincidentally, Aidan Turner had previously filmed at Chavenage House (The Priory in Rivals)
Plot
Follow Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham as they have a long-standing rivalry come to a head. The same filming location was also used to play Trenwith House in the BBC’s 2015 TV adaptation of Poldark.
5 minutes into the first episode and I was hooked
When I first saw that Rivals was coming out I screamed with excitement. I was nervous too as I was a fan of the books.
The clothes, the make-up, the music ~ what a soundtrack
Each episode is fast-paced, there are no times where you get bored or feel like you’ve been stretched as is often the case with a lot of these miniseries. The characters are all unique and beautifully portrayed, the acting and cast are fabulous.
This series is fun, bold, colorful and nostalgic
I understand the disappointment at Rupert’s change of ‘look’ but in my opinion it’s no big deal and has no lasting impact. It doesn’t disappoint at all, and we can take a moment to appreciate David Tennent, who once again plays the “villain” perfectly.
