Something has changed on the main page – BK Digital Academy

Something has changed on the main page

Now at StopGame.Ru two main pages and they are switched with a slider in the upper right corner.

What’s unique about the new main?

New design

Yes, yes, we liked redesigning the site so much that we started it again. This time with a good in-house designer.

And just in case you don’t like the new main one, I remind you: the old one hasn’t gone away.

Fine-tuning the ribbon

You don’t want to see “personal blogs” on the main page? Tired of “recording streams”? Do you want to hide some content??

No problem! Now you can customize your smart feed and turn off those categories that don’t suit you.

Dark theme

Scroll home at night from your phone? Eyes get tired from the abundance of white color? There is a solution: dark theme!

For now only on the main page, in the future – on the entire site.

The theme switcher can be found in the feed settings (I promise we will find a more accessible place for it in the future)

That’s all. Enjoy the new main page, write your comments and read articles and blogs on StopGame.ru

In the new version, the emphasis is on news previews, which in turn do not carry much meaning with rare exceptions.
It happens when something new causes discomfort only because it has replaced something old and familiar, but this is somehow not the case, it seems that the current version is not taken away.

Five previews in the carousel of the current version looked much better than three, but with one huge one in the new. Why do you even need a HUGE picture, they don’t show cats?.

In the current version, you didn’t have to go further than one and a half screens to quickly find out what interesting things were being said there. In the new one, well, strictly speaking, it’s generally uncomfortable to navigate, a sheet of pictures with hard-to-understand text on them. Previously, the eye knew exactly where to cling to in order to see the text title against a contrasting background. The filter doesn’t help here, it won’t change the visual.

Shoving everything right end to end is not good, but such a thick mesh is the same stick, but on the other side. The “Main” and “Everything” blocks are now separate, because of which the space between the blocks itself was eaten up, plus a huge empty area under the carousel and like this, pixel by pixel, from 960 pieces of the working area on a standard screen at 1920×1080, it’s good if 60% of useful information remains. One could argue that the designer is an artist, he sees it this way, on the news site usability will be more important.

ps. The block of pictures opposite the “latest news” has moved 7 pixels from the grid or is this “not a bug, but a feature”?

So far I like the old design better, it’s more convenient to look at the news by the headlines, but when they are in these squares it’s harder to perceive the words, and the preview pictures usually don’t really say anything

In addition, the latest news has page navigation, which means there are more of them on the new main page than on the old one.

“There are page buttons, which means more is displayed”. STAAAAAA?

On the old main page, for https://euwincasino.co.uk/ that matter, there is a “more news” button, which means that more information is displayed there than on all the new one combined.

On the new main page there is a “latest news” block, in which literally nothing has changed: the same small picture and news headline.

Really. 4 news instead of nine, reduced size, and a bunch of unnecessary elements around.

The functionality of the design has not changed, everything has only become more cumbersome, with less efficiency.

If on the old one when you log in you see five popular articles, several news, several “discussed” articles at once, then on the new one everything is the same, but twice as small. And you have to click and search more.

But the design is “fashionable quadratic”. For what?

The new design of the main page is just like that… Not intuitive and cumbersome. The old one was nicer. But for adding a “questions” column, a plus. You can also add a mini-column with an announcement of the upcoming stream.

I still like the old design better. More convenient, delimited and does not require as much scrolling as in the new one. If only we could remove from there this out-of-the-box and incomprehensibly necessary block with “what else is on our site” and make it possible to cancel the auto-scrolling “the main thing today” and everything would be great x)

What kind of gigantism? On a 24 inch monitor, 5 tiles barely fit. On a 6.4-inch phone screen there are actually three. At the same time, in the old version, 8 tiles with a lot of free space could easily fit on the same monitor. I could also assume that you are targeting large monitors/TVs, but stretching the browser across my two monitors, I saw a very sad sight. Why was it necessary to lay out the tiles in rows 2-3?? Why not make them the same size?? How to know that with your blog you will end up with a wide tile or a narrow one and design the poster so that it looks decent? In the blog editor, the tiles are the same size. Why on a mobile phone one tile is single height, and the next one is double height, and then again single height? Why can’t they be made the same height?? Again, a question about the poster. And if you remove all the filters, then the blocks “popular blogs”, “everyone is discussing” and “help” also disappear. That’s the way it should be?

Well, since I’ve already started writing here, I’ll continue on other “issues”:

— a button to call a moderator for a blog or question. Planned or not?

— search for games sorted by date. If you sort by date and view the search results, some games from the previous search page will continue to be displayed. And sometimes not just one, but several in a row.

— setting the yellow circle near the profile menu. It simultaneously indicates the presence of a reply, a message and a change in favorites. I would like to have a choice of what exactly it means. I go to the site, see a yellow circle near the profile menu, I think that someone responded to my comment, but it turns out that it means that someone loaded a trainer for the game from the list of favorite games. And I’m not interested in that,.To. the game is 15 years ago, and I played it around that time, and I added it to my favorites to compile a list of games I have completed. Because of this, I had to remove all the games from my favorites so that this yellow circle would only show the answers, as I wanted.

– deleting a comment that was replied to. It may be worth disabling deletion of comments that have been replied to? Let me give you an example: user No. 1 (p1) writes a comment, user No. 2 (p2) responds to this comment, p1 receives a minus and deletes his comment, comment p2 without the context of the comment p1 becomes incomprehensible, for which he also receives a minus. It’s nonsense.

— limit on the maximum number of investments. 3 pictures/videos/links. Not 3 each, but only 3. Sometimes it’s too little.

It would be nice to indicate the number of comments in the Latest News.

The new one is much worse, uninformative, little information, cumbersome, a regular news column is much better

Three, LITERALLY three headings take up the entire screen, and the titles of the articles don’t even fit

If news about a game that is not interesting to me comes without comments, then I won’t even open this news. But, if there are 5 comments there, then you can scroll through and read.

I’ll add to my review:

Working on a mobile phone has definitely become more convenient and faster. At least to me and on mine. It’s convenient to scroll through, there’s plenty of information, everything moves quickly. Thanks – I like it so far. 🙂

I like “The main thing today”, “the latest news” is a pleasure to read, a special like for “help”. But bulky, overloaded tiles make your eyes look bad. It’s hard to even begin to read the text, let alone look closely at what’s depicted on them. But these are just my cockroaches, I never liked bulky interfaces.

Oh this is interesting. We will test.)

I’m used to the old one for now, thank you for letting me stay on it)

Often, switching to a new design anywhere is primarily a problem of habit. But there is another side when changes are made for the sake of change.

Here, having clicked on the switch, I saw some kind of mess, where they shoved blocks of different sizes in my face, mixing them into a pile that seemed convenient to someone “just because,” and with such a reduced news block, as if the site was going to abandon them altogether in the near future. It may be convenient for mobile phones, but transferring the mobile interface to stationary systems is an erroneous practice that is already morally outdated.

In general, if everything remains with the ability to switch, then everything is fine. 🙂

> “Deleting a comment that was replied to” is normal practice

No way, this is not normal practice:

– this breaks the thread of discussion

– don’t care about the image, you need to think about what you are writing BEFORE pressing the publish button. And if a person, let’s say, presents himself as alternatively gifted in his speeches, this will simply make it clear who you are (not) dealing with

– in order not to “continue to rake in minuses”, there was no need to allow upvotes/minuses of old comments. If I haven’t fallen into insanity yet, I once did

I don’t know if someone wrote about this or not, but I would like that in the old design on the main page where the numbers 1,2,3 and these pages are switched automatically, it would be possible to pause them by clicking on the page number. Otherwise, you’re trying to calmly read the title of the news on the main page and choose what to read, but inside there’s some kind of excitement from the inevitably approaching page change.

Well, subscriptions definitely work. And yet the new main one is overloaded – the tiles should be slightly flattened, or it would be possible to remove the sections too (although this is already a fantasy)

In principle, I like the idea of the new main one, and it’s even done well. Like. But, ahem, the comment counter in the latest news block is missing. And in the desktop version all these tiles are very large. In the same header, one tile takes up 70% of the space, and only three materials fit on one page instead of five, as before. And below they are also large, somewhat confusing. If only we could make them a little smaller, and in general it would be good.

And there are no complaints at all about the mobile version, the new main one is just like the original one. Well, we are really looking forward to the global dark theme 🙂
