Blockscape: build your own world – BK Digital Academy

Blockscape: build your own world

Hello all creative and creative people. I would like to share with everyone who is interested in sandbox games a new (still little-known) game called Blockscape.
I’ll warn you right away that this is an early alpha game and the developer has just started working on the survival mode.

Developer
Jens Blomquist (Yes, yes, a Swede and also Jeb’s mother-in-law), LEGO fan, kind and sociable person
Development time
1) 5 years before appearing in public (hobby in free time for a couple of hours a night);
2) Open since February 2012 (full time)
Engine
Native written in C# using XNA
(Actually, the developer was making 2 engines at the same time – all of 2012 on the old version, a new one was promised in the next update, which is already almost completed)
Platforms
Windows
Support for various platforms promised. The server will become multi-platform first.

Peculiarities:
– Absolutely limitless world. There is no ceiling height or maximum depth. (I was able to get up to 30 km inland) you can travel in all directions as much as you like.
— Blocks of various shapes and sizes. Ability to detail your buildings.
— HD textures and realistic foliage, fire
— The world is generated based on the seed (soon it will be possible to change it).
— Availability of electrical elements
— Playing with light: multi-colored glass allows you to create realistic stained glass windows and create patterns from the light passing through it
— Custom models (you can create a template, say a column of a specific shape, furniture or even a whole house and place it on the map with one click)
– State models (similar to custom models, but change state when you click on them. for example a door: has 2 states open/closed. Can be built in as elements of electrical circuits)
— Multiplayer

Soon:
-mobs (you can create your own https://play-jango.co.uk/ mobs)
-survival mode
-Steam integration
…and much much more

The developer immediately creates the API. Promised: Selecting and loading a mod directly from the game from the global database. Automatically download mods installed on the server you connect to.
Now you can make: Your own brushes (custom models, crafting recipes (rudimentary level), state models (interactive objects for which your imagination is enough).

Here’s the effect you can achieve by replacing textures:

5 years is at the hobby level. The real work began this spring. 90% of innovations have been made since this August

oh no one is right… he is Blomkvist X)
By the way, apparently this is a common surname. I counted as many as 3 Blomkvists in the credits of Little Inferno.

So what?. Due to the fact that the “blocks” are smaller, this is a worthy answer to Minecraft. If there is development and what was promised appears, then you can buy it.

Indeed, 5 years before it is already being developed? It reminds me too much of Minecraft, although it is a much more advanced version of this sandbox.
